Lake Tekapo in the Mackenzie country of New Zealand has become famous for its incredible natural beauty and clear skies. Surrounded by mountain ranges and coloured by tussock and vast glacial lakes it is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world. The altitude (more than 700m or 2300ft from the sea level) and the near ranges of the Southern Alps and Mt Cook keep the atmosphere dry and clear this is why the Mackenzie area is a great place for astronomy and skywatching. Tekapo is a photographer's paradise in which I am happy to be living and working. On this site you will be able to find stunning images of Tekapo and the surrounding areas of the Mackenzie basin that Fraser Gunn has made available for download (non commercial use only) so you can print out, make your screen saver or wallpaper
(Small 2400 x 1600 pixels, Medium 3600 x 2400 pixels and Large 4800 x 3200 pixels)
