Timelapse animation of the southern night sky taken from Mt John with Tekapo village on the left and the 1 meter telescope dome. The Southern Cross starts in the top right corner and slowly rotates towards the middle, you are able to see the dome slowly move, the red light inside the dome is from the LCD time/position readout. The 1 meter telescope is mostly used in conjuntion with the hercules spectorgraph. The sky then begins to lighten, which is from the cresent moon rising (not sunrise). The moving lights along the bottom of the animation are from cars going along the highway
